Amazing Isopods

I have fallen in love with my bugs.  I think it takes me back to my childhood.

I originally got them to seed my gecko tanks.  Now, I am enjoying all of the species.

Gargoyle gecko baby update

First three are from 2017.

Rusty bucket - fired down just looks like a granulated mess.

This little one is grey with just a splash of red.

This one almost seems pink at times.  I added a few extra shots since she is my favorite from 2017.

2018 babies.

Coloration on this one reminds me of her/his daddy when he was little.

Few shots of this dark wonder.

This one also reminds me of his/her dad.

This sweetheart is having color coming up and up.

This one is a little different.  Looking forward to seeing what happens here.

Blue eyed Halmahera Gecko

I started with a single Halmahera gecko.  I purchased additional and only then noticed the difference.  My other Halmaheras have green eyes.  They also seem a touch smaller.

Hal- the initiator of the Halmahera interest.

Grew this little one from 7 grams.  Now in the 40's.  Few more Years of growing to to.

Love their mouths- their scales are amazing.  Totally see where myths of dragons came from.

Their feet are so big.

Their tails project out from a tuck of skin.  they are beefy and short.

The coloration on their scales are like abstract art.

Love how their little nails are covered.

And then she dropped her tail

Pookie is one of the first geckos I purchased (she is 3 1/2 years old).  I had been hooked by Squish and purchased 2 babies that I named Pookie and Chewy.

They are easy going girls that hooked me in further.

During routine weekly cleaning I was snapping a picture when she jumped on to my camera.  Not unusual occurrence.  I reached up with my other hand to make sure I didn't drop my phone and scared her into dropping her tail.

When her tail detached she was unfazed.  She sat there like it was a Tuesday...

It amazes me how the tail pulls out triangles of tissue so that the skin collapses on the left over tail nub.  Very little bleeding.

 6 grams of beautiful tail. This thing moved for easily 10 minutes after it detached.
